Frederick Rosenthal Obituary
Frederick John Rosenthal, 100, of Asheville, NC passed peacefully on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at his home.
Born September 4, 1923 in Koln, Germany, he was the son of the late Philipp and Polly Rosenthal. He was an alumnus of Columbia University where he received his master’s degree in Library Sciences.
During WWII, he proudly served in the U.S. Army and continued for most of his life working as a public servant, finally retiring from the Library of Congress as an Administrative Librarian after 27 years of service. Mr. Rosenthal was a passionate lover of both classical music and literature.
His memory lives on through his devoted spouse, Carolyn M. Rosenthal; children, David Rosenthal and his partner, Sangita Verma, of Santa Monica, CA, and Judith Arbacher and the late Robert Arbacher of Silver Spring, MD; grandchildren, Jonah, Becca, Madeleine, and Rachel; and a grand dog, Tiger.
A private funeral service will be held at the Western Carolina State Veteran’s Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC.
