Barbara "Bobbie" Ann (Smith) Tinsley

Barbara Ann "Bobbie" Smith Tinsley, 75, of Asheville, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Asheland Ridge Health Care Center in Asheville. She was born on December 16, 1942 in Sarasota, FL to the late Christopher and Sara Smeltzer Smith. Barbara was a member of the Basilica of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and retired from Sears as a manager after 25 years. She also volunteered with the Catholic Social Services and the Buncombe County Sheriff's Department. Barbara is preceded in death by her son, Kevin Tinsley. She is survived by her husband, Don Tinsley; daughter, Kelli Tinsley of Asheville; son, Christopher Tinsley (Robin Jordan) of Gastonia; a niece and two nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at 2:00pm at Penland Family Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating the service is Rev. Lewis Melton. The family will receive friends an hour before the service. Members of the Buncombe County Sheriff's Department will serve as pallbearers. A burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery in Asheville.
