Nathaniel Prince Maddux III

     Nathaniel Prince Maddux III, 64, passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Kingsbridge Nursing Home in Brevard, NC after an extended battle with dementia related problems. Born on January 15, 1954 in Aiken, SC, Nat was the son of Nathaniel P. Maddux Jr. and Avenelle Rose Maddux of Asheville, NC. Nat was preceded in death by his mother; his wife, Jean Gupton Maddux. He is survived by his daughter, Jessica; his father; and his devoted mother-in-law, Helen Talbot; all of Asheville; sisters, Marilyn Ferikes (Joe), Lizabeth Hartzog (Bobby), and Natalie Maddux; his brothers, Michael Maddux (Carla) and David Maddux (Charles). Nat was a life-long resident of Asheville and a graduate of Asheville High School. He worked as a self-employed home builder and attended Biltmore Baptist Church in Swannanoa. Nat especially enjoyed sessions with his church connect group but most importantly, he loved his family with all his heart and will be missed by all of them.
     A memorial service for Nat will be held Wednesday, April 18. 2018 at 4:30pm in the Penland Family Funeral Home Chapel at 125 South Avenue, Swannanoa, NC 28778. Penland Family Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Maddux family.
