Robert W. Miller

Robert W. "Bob" Miller, 79, of Black Mountain, passed away March 11, 2017.

Born September 12, 1937 in Glenolden, PA, he was the son of the late William and Emma Walls Miller. He is also preceded in death by a brother, William Miller.

Bob was a beloved husband, and an extraordinary man. Bob was a graduate of Penn State Engineering. He moved to Hendersonville for ten years and resided in Givens Highland Farms for four years. He volunteered at Black Mountain Home for Children where he was awarded the Lamar and Ruth Mary Williamson Volunteer of the Year. Bob was instrumental in developing the Butterfly Garden at Givens Highland Farms where he was known by some as "Butterfly Bob." He was also responsible for a program called the "Highlanders" where mostly profit and non-profit organizations spoke from the community.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Miller; children, Ronald Miller of Portland, ME, and Robin Paraiso of Madison, CT; sister, Florence Pratt of Bryn Mawr, PA; and three grandchildren.

A private service will be held by the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to the Black Mountain Home for Children.

The family would like to thank the staff and health care workers who took care of Bob through his long illness.
