Shawn David Diaz

     Shawn David Diaz, 32, of Bowersville, GA, passed away on Monday, April 16, 2018, at John F. Keever Solace Center in Asheville. He was born on January 2, 1986, in Virginia Beach, VA to David Thomas Diaz of Utah and Ramona Lorraine Stockton of Bowersville, GA. Shawn worked as a welder for Eaton Corporation and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Murphy, NC. He was preceded in death by his brother, Timothy Diaz; his grandfather, Clyde Stockton, and his two aunts, Allison Johnson and Mallorie Cook. In addition to his parents, Shawn is survived by his son, Silas Diaz of Asheville; his brother, Brett Diaz of Colorado Springs, CO; his grandparents, Paul and Carolyn Cole of Bowersville, GA, David and Brigette Diaz of Virginia Beach, VA; his uncles, Russell Stockton, Steve Diaz, and Jeff Diaz; his aunts, Joy Sibert and Lynn Grimm; and many cousins and a host of friends.
     A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2018, in the Penland Family Funeral Home Chapel at 8:00pm. The family will be receiving friends before the service at the chapel from 7pm-8pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Truett Baptist Camp at 346 Truett Camp Road, Hayesville, NC 28904. Penland Family Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Diaz Family.
