Shirley Shook Foxx, 69, of Black Mountain, passed away Monday, February 26, 2018 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center in Asheville.
Shirley was born in the Upper Laurel community of Madison County, NC on September 23, 1948 to the late Junie and Maggie Gentry Shook. She was married to Forrest Foxx who preceded her in death in 2014. Shirley was deeply devoted to her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be greatly missed.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by thirteen brothers and sisters.
She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Arrowood and Julie Try, both of Black Mountain, and Lisa Huskey of Newton; a son, David Fisher and wife Tammie of Weaverville; eight grandchildren, Brian, Leslieanne, David, Kyle, Justin, Evan, Tyler, and Coltan; and four great grandchildren, Shania, Presleigh, Jackson, and Lucas “LJ.”
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m., Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Covenant Church of the Highlands, 540 Reems Creek Road, in Weaverville. Rev. Timmy Burnette will officiate. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Church of the Highlands for community outreach. Penland Family Funeral Home in Swannanoa is honored to serve the family.
