William Kelly Rice

    William Kelly “Bud” Rice age 90 passed away Friday October 13, 2017 at the North Carolina State Veterans Home in Black Mountain. He was a native of Yancey County and was the son of the late Joseph B and Lillus Ida Wood Rice. He was the husband of the late Jeanette Scroggs Rice. He was a machinist and retired from NCI Tool & Dye Company. He was a veteran of the US Navy. In addition to his parents and wife he was pre-deceased by his brothers J.B. Rice and James Rice.

    He is survived by his brother Leon Rice of Black Mountain and his sister Evelyn Cabe of Florida.

    The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday October 16, 2017 at Meadowbrook Freewill Baptist church at 204 Blue Ridge Road Black Mountain. Rev. Randy Stone and Rev. Frank Cantrell will officiate. Burial will follow at Piney Grove Cemetery in Swannanoa.

    The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 Monday at the church.
