Asheville – Jimmy “Jim” Long Sr., 65, passed away Monday, August 13, 2012, was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  He was a role model for others in loyalty, trust, and responsibility. Jim was a man of faith who believed you can accomplish anything you set your mind to and be able to do it to the best of your ability.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Leroy Long, and brother, Johnny Long. Surviving is his mother, Barbara Marshall of Dothan, AL; loving wife, Glenda Cordell Long; beloved daughter, Debra (Bob) Hartman; sons, Jimmy Lamar Long Jr. of Old Fort, and Roy C. Long of Asheville; sisters, Gladys (Red) Knowles of Dothan, AL, Jo Hanley of Atlanta, GA, and four grandchildren, Ty Hanckel, Megan Sutton-Long, Katlyn Long, and Jason Long.

A memorial service was held at 6:00 pm, Saturday, August 18, 2012 at the Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall in Swannanoa, which he was a member, with Elder Kim Dockery officiating.
