Susan and Rita.... I grew up in the house on Myers Chapel my parents bought from Ed and Junia and spent many a year under your giant boxwood and mulberry tree there. My most vivid memory of your mom was in 5th grade when I fell asleep on a wad of Silly Putty, and it gummed my long hair into a ball of goo the size of a grapefruit. In panic and desperation, Mama got your mom out of bed very early on a Sunday morning to try to salvage my hair so we could go to church. Your poor mama had to cut off nearly a foot of hair to get that mess out. I was devastated and sobbing in her beauty shop chair, and your mom was so compassionate and kind and kept telling me how pretty I would be with my new hairstyle. I never forgot her kindness to me that day. She was a good lady. I heard the harp was absolutely gorgeous at her service.
