Robert Virgil Thomas

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Robert Virgil Thomas, age 77, of Fairview, NC, who gracefully completed his life’s race on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at Four Seasons Hospice Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, NC.

Robert was born on October 18, 1946, in Buncombe County to the late Roy V. Thomas and Mollie Patton Thomas.

 He earned his Associate of Arts degree at AB Tech in Asheville and was retired from his job as a tool and die maker. Robert was a veteran of the United States Navy and served his country proudly during the Vietnam War era.

Robert was more than a husband, father, and friend; he was a beacon of light, always finding the best and most beautiful in every moment.

Throughout his journey, Robert infused joy and positivity into the lives of those around him. His optimism and infectious laughter brought comfort and warmth to all who knew him. Whether it was a simple gesture or a grand adventure, Robert approached life with a desire to seek out the beauty in every experience.

Robert had a profound faith in Jesus Christ, which he shared with many people. Robert’s greatest desire was for everyone to know Jesus as he did.

As we reflect on Robert’s life, let us honor his memory by finding the best or most beautiful part of every moment. Rest assured, Robert is now in the presence of his Lord and Savior. He is experiencing the best and most beautiful he’s ever seen.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor Robert by looking for an opportunity to share love and kindness to others in the way Jesus would.

In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Denise Ann Turner Thomas.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his son, Andrew Thomas and his wife, Amy of Hendersonville, NC; two brothers, Ray Thomas of TN and Tony Thomas of Swannanoa, NC; two sister-in-laws, Beverly Jones and her husband Mike of FL and Mary Turner of Illinois; grandson, River Thomas of Hendersonville, NC; and dear friend, Jimmy Jacoby of Fairview, NC.

A Celebration of Robert’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Trinity Baptist Church, 216 Shelburne Rd., Asheville, NC 28806, with Pastor Allen Rash officiating.
