Betty Anne (Smith) Loudy

Betty Smith Loudy, age 93, passed away on February 12, 2017 in Asheville, North Carolina. She was a native of Collingswood, New Jersey.  Betty was the daughter of the late John A. and Carrie A. Smith. She was also preceded in death by her brother, David W. Smith and her former husband Francis (Frank) Loudy, of Johnson City, Tennessee.

Betty was born in Camden, New Jersey, reared in Collingswood, New Jersey and lettered in four varsity sports in high school. She was employed at AT&T Co. in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for 10 years. Betty was married in Woodbury, New Jersey, rearing four children, and divorced in 1975. She moved to Asheville, North Carolina in 1981. Betty was employed by Belk department store, retiring in 1989. She volunteered at the Billy Graham Training Center for 27 years. Betty was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Swannanoa for 33 years. Surviving are her children; Craig (Debbie) Loudy, of Fleming Island, Florida, Keith (Nancy) Loudy of Midlothian, Virginia, Brian (Lynne) Loudy, Alpharetta, Georgia, and Nancy (Ronald) Shelton of Swannanoa, NC; her grandchildren Rebekah (Sergio), Trisha (Greg) Stewart, Florida, Christopher (Missy) Loudy, Kevin (Carrie), Colin, Elizabeth, Erin (Lane), Kelsey (Grayson), and Caitlin; great-grandchildren Samantha, Savanna , Thomas, Griffin, Carson, Cooper, Natalie, Anna, and Noah.
