Betty Jane (York) Wingo

     Betty York Wingo recently passed away from this world to the next. 
She was born, Betty Jane York, on August 22, 1928 in Swannanoa, NC to her parents - Robert Lee York, Sr. and Annie Spivey York. She lived most of her life in Asheville, NC and Swannanoa, NC. 
She served as office manager for many years to Dr. Kermit Brown and Dr. Fletcher Sluder, OBGYN. Upon their retirement, she help to set up and manage the original office of Asheville Internal Medicine where she worked until her retirement. She attended St. James Episcopal Church in Swannanoa, NC.
She is preceded in death by three husbands whom she dearly loved - Roy A. Shook, Jr. of Asheville, NC, George H. Rogers, Sr. of Asheville, and Ted Edgar Wingo, Sr. of Swannanoa, NC. 
She leaves behind one daughter, Diann C. Shook, three grandchildren, Charlotte York Friedman of Park City, Utah, Jack Fisher Melson, III of West Monroe, La., and Jonathon Earl Crenshaw of Asheville, NC., and one great-grandson, Eston Friedman.
She also leaves behind her children by marriage - George H. Rogers, Jr. and his wife Gail, Mary Gladys Rogers Bitter and her husband Karl, Jack B. Rogers and his wife Carolyn , and Ted E. Wingo, Jr. and all of their grandchildren. 
She was well loved and loved well.
There will be a graveside memorial service and celebration of her life  at Piney Grove Cemetery in Swannanoa, NC to be officiated by The Rev. David McNair, Church of the Holy Cross, Mars Hill, NC, on Sunday, June 24 at 5pm.
