David Earl Metcalf

     David Earl Metcalf, age 71, of Asheville NC, passed away on Friday, August 24, 2018 at his home. He was a native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County. David was born on September 17, 1946  to the late Glenn and Ruby Cheek Metcalf.  He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War where he he received the National Defense Service medal. In addition to his parents he was preceeded in death by his twin brother Dennis Gene Metcalf in 2000. He was member  of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Swannanoa. David was the owner and operator of D & K Trucking Company.

     Along with his wife Louise Pack Metcalf, David is also survived by his son, David A. Metcalf and his wife Tonya of Black Mountain, his sister, Elaine Metcalf of Black Mountain; his granddaughter, Courtney Metcalf; and his grandson, Cameron Metcalf.

     A memorial service will be held on Thursday August 30, 2018 at 12:00 Noon in the chapel of the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain  Rev. Jason Bartlett will  officiate. Penland Family Funeral Home is honored to be caring for the Metcalf Family.
