Floyd Thomas Hargus, 93, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2018. Floyd was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He was born on September 19, 1924 to the late Fred Edward and Annie Belle Hargus. Floyd was a United States Army WWII Veteran and served in the rail splitters division which was deployed along the front lines in Germany. He also worked for and retired from being a textile worker for Sayles Biltmore Bleachery. He is survived by his brother, Alan Hargus; his three children, Phillip Hargus, Joyce Ann Stinnett, and Ricky Hargus; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, February 22, 2018 in the Penland Family Funeral Home chapel. The family will receive friends and hour prior to the service from 12:00pm-1:00pm. Rev. Dr. Jeff Dowdy will be officiating the service. The burial will immediately follow at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. Penland Family Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Hargus family.
