Hubert "Buster" Brown

Hubert “Buster” Brown Jr., age 79 passed away Sunday, August 13, 2017 at The Oaks at Sweeten Creek Health Care Center. He was a native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He was the son of the late Hubert Brown Sr. and Carolyn Elizabeth Black Brown, husband of the late Martha “Molly” Sorrell Brown who died July 23, 2016. He was also predeceased by his brothers Bill and Jim Brown, and sister Alice Kirstein. He was employed with Buncombe County Schools for many years as a bus driver and custodian. He had a great love for children. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Reynolds Fire Department.  He attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Fairview. 

He is survived by his daughter Christy Gosnell, his son Richard Curtis Brown both of Fairview. His 3 grandchildren Hannah Gosnell, Caleb Brown, Laycee Brown. He is also survived by his brother Sam Brown of Greenville SC, his sisters Betty Buckner of Fairview, Carolyn Harwood of Leicester, Janice Penland of Swannanoa, Joyce Moore of Vero Beach, Florida.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Fairview. Rev. Randy Woods will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Garren Creek Fire Department at 10 Flat Creek Road, Fairview, NC 28730.
