James "Hardy" Creasman, 87, of Asheville, passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at the JFK Solace Center. He was born on February 25, 1931 in Buncombe County to the late Theodore James Creasman and Janie Stepp Creasman. James worked as a carpenter and was of the Baptist faith. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Taylor Creasman, who passed away in 1977; his companion of 20 years, Lois Grant, who passed away in 2016; and two grandchildren, Ryan Case, who passed away in September of 2017, and Shane Creasman, who passed away in 1972. Hardy is survived by his son, Glenn Creasman of Asheville; his daughters, Darlene Case (Danny) of Asheville, Linda Montieth (Don) of Bat Cave, and Karen Thorpe (John) of Asheville; his brothers, Theodore Creasman of Fairview and Roy Creasman of Asheville; his sisters, Ruth Taylor of Asheville, Ethel Penley of Asheville and Mable Moore of Old Fort; his three grandchildren, Brandy Alexander, Bridgett Alexander, and Nick Case; two great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and one on the way.
A funeral service will be held at 11am, Saturday, June 23, 2018 in the Penland Family Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Sky View Memorial Park in Asheville. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 22, 2018 from 6pm-8pm in the chapel.
