James Oscar Henn, 94, of Black Mountain, passed away September 28, 2017.

Mr. Henn was born in Warren, OH on July 5, 1923 to the late Roy and Ora Schuster Henn. After moving from Ohio, he was a resident of  New York and New Jersey as well as having lived in Barnardsville for 31 years. After graduating high school, he served in the U.S. Navy and the Merchant Marines during WWII. James worked as a machinist at Nabisco as well as a farmer, where he was known as the "Tomato Man" at the Asheville Tailgate Market.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine M. Henn; and his son, Roy J. Henn.

Surviving are his daughters, Laura Hulslander (David) of Troy, PA, and Carol Wellman (Dan) of Speedway, IN; sister, Lucy Stine of Euclid, Ohio; granddaughters, April Henn of Pennsylvania and Tara Ray (Mike) of Indiana; great-grandchildren, Keira Ray, and Griffin Ray both of Indiana; and several nieces and nephews in California, and New Jersey.

Laura Hulslander would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the North Carolina State Veteran's Home in Black Mountain, and to Mike and Brenda Thomas, Jim Drennan, LC and Betty Chandler, and Holly Petroff for all the help they gave Mr. Henn over the last few years. Carol Wellman would like to thank all of her friends and relatives who provided support and prayers during Mr. Henn's final days.
