James David Taylor Sr.

    James David Taylor Sr., 77, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Jan. 6, 2018 at Mission Hospital. He was born on Feb. 15, 1940 in Buncombe County to the late Fred and Delia Summey Taylor. He was a US Navy and US Army Veteran; serving during the Vietnam era. He also worked at Beacon Manufacturing in the maintenance department. 
    James is survived by his son, James D. Taylor Jr. (Rena) of Asheville; daughter, Charlene McCulloch (Tony McPherson) of Fairview; grandchildren, Taylor, Ashley, Montana, Dakota and J.R.; and great grandchild, Jax. James will always be truly loved and greatly missed by many.
    A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 in the Penland Family Funeral Home Chapel. The family will be receiving friends from 1-2pm. Officiating the service will be Rev. Edwin Olson. A burial will follow at Sky View Memorial Park in Swannanoa. Penland Family Funeral Home is honored to serve the Taylor family.
