Jerry Stilwell Obituary

Jerry Thomas Stilwell, 79, of Waynesville, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at the Asheville VA Medical Center after a long illness. He was the son of James Franklin and Martha Nell Hawkins Stillwell. Jerry graduated from Erwin High School in Asheville and then served in the United States Army. After the Army, Jerry worked and retired from Lowe's and then started Jerry's Home Improvement Company in Waynesville. Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Susan Smith Allston Stilwell; children, Jerry Drake, Joyce Drake Passmore (Randy), Jimmy Drake (Danelle), Julie Stilwell Shelton (Kenny), and Jill Stilwell Davis (Jason); stepchildren, Donald McKay Allston IV (Adrianna), and Dr. Mary Ann Allston; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Jim Stilwell (Corky), Richard Stillwell (Vonita), Gene Stillwell, Annette Stillwell Reagan (George), and Johnny Stillwell (Yvonne). Jerry was a good man, is loved by many and will be sorely missed.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, February 12, 2018 at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery at 962 Old US Hwy 70, Black Mountain, NC 28711. Pastor Rick Stillwell will be officiating and the burial will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate to the ASPCA at www.ASPCA.org/donate.
