John "Jody" Hilliard Lee Jr.

          John "Jody" Hilliard Lee Jr., age 65, of Waynesville, NC, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at Mission Hospital in Asheville. He was born on February 9, 1954 in Haywood County, NC to the late John H. Lee Sr. and Artis McDowell Lee. John worked as a mailman for the U.S. Postal Service and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Waynesville. He is survived by his son, Trevion Lee of Atlanta, GA; his daughter, Sheyquan Battle of Atlanta, GA; the mother of his children, Hannah Johnson of Atlanta, GA; his brothers, Charles Malik (Linda) of Charlotte, NC and Ernest Lee of Waynesville, NC; his sister, Nancy Bell of Charlotte, NC; his aunt, Josephine Hall of Asheville; and five grandchildren, Cody and Carson Lee, Paris Battle, Prince Durham, and Reya Grover.
          A memorial service will be held at 12pm, Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Waynesville. Rev. Roderic Sanders and Rev. Steven Bryson will be officiating. The family will be receiving friends an hour before the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Penland Family Funeral Home C/O: John H.
