Joseph Vincent Pitts

       Joseph Vincent Pitts, age 75, of Old Fort, NC, passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at his home. He was born on March 27, 1943 in Buncombe County to the late Joseph Brown and Rosalie Shope Pitts. Joseph worked as a truck driver for a trucking company and was also a U.S. Air Force Veteran. He was raised on his maternal grandparents' family farm with his Gillis cousins and graduated from Biltmore High School's last class. Up until 1 month ago, he worked security at the Ingles Warehouse. He is survived by his sons, Joseph "Joe" D. Pitts of Nebo and William "Bill" Pitts of Old Fort; his brother, Richard Scott (Annie) of Black Mountain; his sister, Judy Bridges of Swannanoa; the mother of his children, Deborah Lynn Lewis of McDowell County; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
       There will be no service per his request. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675. Penland Family Funeral Home is honored to be caring for the Pitts Family.
