Nathaniel P. " Big Nat" Maddux age 94, passed away January 4, 2019 at his Residence. Nat was born May 10, 1924 to the late Dr. N.P. Maddux and Irene Baune Wheat. He attended Clayton Elementary School and Christ School in Arden, NC where he graduated in 1942. He then served in the Naval Air Force from December 1942 to May 1946. He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 58 years, Avenelle Rose; son, Nathaniel P. Maddux; a brother, Thomas Dana Maddux; a sister, Anna Wilson.
Nat is survived by the most precious things in his life, his children; daughters, Marilyn Perikes her husband Joe of Asheville, NC, Lizabeth Hartzog and her husband Bobby of Mills River, NC and Natalie Sparks of Weaverville, NC; Son's; Mike Maddux and his wife Carla of Swann, NC and David Maddux and his Life partner, Charles Harris of Atlanta, Ga.; 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Nat was a member of Biltmore Baptist Church in Swannanoa N.C. and he dearly loved members of his church connect group.
A celebration of his life will be 12:00pm Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at The Western Carolina Veterans Cemetery Chapel. Officiating will be Reverend Seth Brown. Nat will be laid to rest with those that protected our country and freedom at Western Carolina Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC.
A very special and dear thanks and love to his son Mike and wife Carla for giving Nat and beautiful loving Christian home to live out his final years.
In honor of Big Nat the family has requested donations be made to Veterans Restoration Quarters 1329 Tunnel Rd, Asheville, NC 28805.
