Paul Wesley Adkins

Paul Wesley Adkins, Sr., 79, of Swannanoa, passed away March 6, 2017 at Mountain Ridge Wellness Center in Black Mountain.

Mr. Adkins was born Nov. 16, 1937 in Summerfield to the late William and Ollie Ore Adkins. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Pearl Hutchins and her husband, Lonnie; and a brother, Robert Adkins.

Mr. Adkins was a graduate of Pfeiffer University, and Cincinnati Embalming School, and attended Western Carolina University. He was a member of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Ria Adkins of the home; children, Wesley Adkins (Sherry Sentell) of Seneca, SC, Sue Wagner (Herbert) of Swannanoa, Beth Seagle of Sylva, and step-daughter, Judy (Sam) of Old Fort; brothers, Melvin Adkins (Louise) of Greensboro, and Fred Adkins (Joann) of Julian; grandsons, Brandon Bishop (Wendy), Cokey Wagner (Kortnee), and Justin Adkins; granddaughters, Renee Lawing (Adam), Julie Padgett, Tiffany Taylor (Jason), and Sheena Sentell (Dakota); great-grandchildren, Olivia, Mallory, and Madeline Taylor, Zoe and Emma Lawing, Jason and Kati Long, Megan Sutton, and Amelia Padgett.

A memorial service will be held 3:00 PM Friday, March 10 at Penland Family Funeral Home in Swannanoa with Rev. Frank Cantrell officiating. A visitation will be held half an hour before the service.
