Rebecca Johnson Obituary

Beloved Rebecca Lee Johnson, born to Beverly and Ada Lee (nee Harris) Johnson on 1/6/1955 in Lynchburg VA, died peacefully in Asheville, NC on 10/18/2018 after a tragic car accident. She attended Wake Forest and Western Carolina Universities. From her early work as a teacher in Stokes County, NC, to her devoted work as a Caseworker for Western Highlands in Asheville, and recent volunteer work with Asheville City School’s "Read 2 Succeed" program, Rebecca touched many lives with her quiet, kind, loving demeanor. Generous in Spirit, she touched many hearts and empowered many as a member/lay leader of Soka Gakkai International (SGI) Buddhist organization. Rebecca was active in Asheville’s LGBT and RC Counseling communities and was also in a writing group. An Adventurous spirit, she loved the outdoors and regularly hiked, kayaked, and camped with friends. She also loved to Dance! Rebecca is survived by a large, diverse family of loved ones and friends who will miss her dearly.  She will always remain in our hearts as a role model — one who lived life to the fullest and never forgot the immeasurable value of human kindness. May her bright spirit continue to inspire!
