Rufus Daniel

    Rufus Daniel, 92, of Swannanoa, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the NC State Veterans Home in Black Mountain. He was born on July 12, 1925 in Easley, SC to the late Jerry and Allavertta Greene Daniel. Rufus was a US Army veteran who enjoyed hunting. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Bell Lytle Daniel; a sister, Loree Griffin; and two brothers, Charles Daniel and Jerry Daniel Jr. Rufus is survived by his daughter, Terri Hooper;  grandson, Hezekiah Hooper of Swannanoa; three sisters, Aretha Richardson of Evanston, IL, Mary L. Stepp of Black Mountain, NC, and Betty J. Washington of Evanston, IL; his niece and caregiver, Cora Stafford of Black Mountain, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
    A funeral service will be held at 12:30pm on Monday, December 4, 2017 in the chapel of Penland Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Hill Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30am-12:30pm at the funeral home. Penland Family Funeral Home is serving the family.
