Ruth Elmira Sluder

Ruth Elmira Sluder, a lifelong resident of Leicester, died April 12, 2017 at the age of 78. She was a daughter of the late Leonard A. "Zeb" Sluder (1970) and Ruth B. Gillespie Sluder (1971). In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her brother, Gary Sluder.

Miss Sluder worked for Leicester Elementary School for 20 years.

Survivors include her son, Robert "Robby" (Stephanie) Sluder of Leicester; grandchildren, Josh and Sydney Sluder; step-grandchildren, Felicia, Paul, and Clifford; and step-great grandchildren, Eli, Della Rose, Naomi, Kameron, and Kaylee.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, April 17 at Asheville Family Church, 530 New Leicester Hwy. Leicester, NC 28748 with Revs. Rolf Woodard and Charles Phillips officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Penland Family Funeral Home, 125 South Ave. Swannanoa, NC 28778 to assist with funeral expenses.
