Dear Buzz - Winn Legerton (John Young's widow) just sent this to me. My heart aches for you and your family. Although we did not have much contact with either of you after leaving Davidson, I always remembered Suzie as a beautiful spirit, who brought loving energy and creativity to every encounter. The two of you added a necessary non-western focus to the college. That was the reason Fred has hired (South Asia), so he was pleased. Fred died on August 25, 2009, so I am "On the Other Side of Sadness." Unfortunately, it takes quite a while to get there.. I wish you as peaceful a path as is possible to that place.

As classmate & friend at Pettisville, I recognized & admired Susie's creativity & talents, these were described in the obituary so well. She obviously continued to develop these qualities & took advantage of her many opportunities to share those gifts widely.
When we were in 3rd grade she would write plays---we would rehearse them at recess. I don't recall how they turned out but certainly induced a lot of imagination. At that age Susie had braids most girls did at that time---I admit my envy. However, her new style in later years revealed pretty natural curl. I also sang in a ladies quartet with her---we had a good blend of voices---we liked the practice time because we were excused from study hall. I do regret that our paths did not cross after PHS.
