Thelma Rebecca Brown Hunter, age 87, of Asheville, NC, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019 at Mission Hospital. She was born on September 15, 1931 in Buncombe County to the late Daniel Byrd and Cora Miller. Thelma had several different occupations; first was being a homemaker for her family; she was a seamstress; and she was also a CNA for a nursing home. Thelma was a member of Oakley Free Will Baptist Church in Asheville.
She was predeceased by five of her 10 children; sons, Floyd Wayne Brown, Jerry Doyle Brown and Richard Earl Brown; and daughters, Carolyn Lewis and Shirley Elaine Brown. Thelma is survived by her sons, Daniel David Brown of Colorado, Larry Lee Brown of Asheville, Johnny Bruce Brown of Asheville and Billy Gregory Brown of Leicester; her daughter, Marilyn Wells of Candler; and her brother, Claude Robert Lollis of Swannanoa.
A service will be held at a later date. Penland Family Funeral Home is honored to be caring for the Brown/Hunter Family.
