Troy Eugene Morrow

Troy Eugene Morrow, 89, of Asheville, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2017 at The Laurels of Summit Ridge. Born August 28, 1928 in Fairview NC, Mr. Morrow was the son of the late John B. and Sadie Wilson Morrow. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Morrow; brothers: Broaddus, Thurl, Burgin, Howard, and Charles; sisters: Minnie, Annie, Veenie, Paralee, Martha, Betty, Catherine, and Elizabeth. Survivors include his children, Kathy M. Sulc of Charleston SC, and Douglas E. Morrowof Asheville; sister, Martha Lee of Fairview; grandchildren, Zachary Morrow (Tara) of Lancaster, PA, Bradley Sulc (Kelly) of Disputanta, VA, and Emma Grace Morrow of Asheville; great-grandchildren: Kasey Sulc, Korbin Sulc, and Hunter Morrow as well as many nieces and nephews. Mr. Morrow attended Fairview High School, and served in the United States Army in the Korean War, having been a part of the Battle of Heartbreak Ridge. Mr. Morrow started his career in textiles at Sayles Biltmore Bleacheries and later retired from Rock Hill Printing and Finishing. He was volunteer at the Asheville VA Medical Center for 15 years. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed hiking, and was a member of the Baptist faith. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 23 at 11:00 AM at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Fairview with Rev. Steve Hensley officiating.
