Wilma Jean (Owenby) Craig

Wilma Jean Owenby Craig, 76, of Fairview, passed away September 15, 2017 at Mission Memorial Hospital in Asheville.

A native of Asheville, Mrs. Craig was born July 7, 1941 to the late Millard James Owenby (1980) and Sadie Mae Jones Owenby (1987). In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Craig; and siblings, James Owenby, Frank Owenby, Jerry Owenby, and Betty McElrath.

Mrs. Craig was a graduate of Lee Edwards High School, and retired from Taylor Instruments. She always loved to go camping and fishing with her husband.

Survivors include her children, Sandra Craig (Jimmy) of Fairview, Angela Craig (Don) of Fairview, Brenda McElrath (Keith) of Towneville, SC, Charles Craig of Fairview, and Clifton Craig of Fairview; sister, Patricia Craig of Swannanoa; grandchildren, Amanda, Aaron, Jason, Jamie, Dorothy, Joshua, Becky, Noah, Michael, TK, Jessica, Samantha, Ashley, Brent, and Hailey; and sixteen great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, September 17 at 3:00 PM at Chestnut Hill Church in Fairview with Pastor Ronnie Harris officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour before the service. Committal services will follow at the church cemetery.
