Amy Tate, age 52, of Black Mountain, NC , passed away on, Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Mission Hospital in Asheville. Ms. Tate was born on May 28, 1968 in Buncombe Co., NC to Jack Tate and the late Marjorie Chasteen Tate. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Highland Farms before becoming disabled. In spite of her life- long health issues, she was a very independent, strong-willed, and determined lady who was living her best life. Amy was a very loving daughter, sister, mother and grandmother, who adored her daughter and grandchildren. She enjoyed being outdoors in nature and going for rides on the Blue Ridge Parkway, shopping, and spending “girl time” with her daughter. She was her happiest when she was spending time with her precious family.
She is survived by her father, Jack Tate of Black Mountain; her beautiful daughter, Kimberly Peters and husband Cory of Swannanoa; two brothers, Kevin Tate and wife Tammy and Phillip Tate, both of Black Mountain; a sister, Cynthia Nicholas and husband Jack, of Albita Springs, Louisiana; five wonderful grandchildren, Landen, Skylar, and Jaxon Greene, and Grayson and Colton Peters, all of Swannanoa; a niece, Heather Tate Yarborough and husband Brad of Hendersonville; and three nephews, Joshua Hughes and wife Ashleigh of Asheville, Kane Tate and wife Colee of Swannanoa, and Nick Brown and wife Jessica of Candler.
No services are scheduled at this time and a Celebration of Amy’s life will be announced at a later date when plans are finalized. Penland Family Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the Tate family with arrangements.
