Anita Marie Shelton

Anita Marie Shelton, 77, of Asheville, NC, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2026, at the Laurels of Summit Ridge.

Born January 2, 1949, in Asheville, NC, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Essie Shelton. She was a graduate of Charles D. Owen High School and Carolina College of Hair Design. For most of her career, she was employed by Kay and Irene Salon in Black Mountain, NC, and later in life by Cooper-Bussmann also in Black Mountain, NC.  

She is preceded in death by a son, Timothy Bailey; brother, Ronald Ward Shelton Sr; and her canine companion, Abby. Surviving are her daughter, Tammy B. Shell, and her spouse, Daniel Humphrey, of Asheville, NC, and four grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 16, 2026, in the chapel of Penland Family Funeral Home in Swannanoa, with the family receiving friends an hour prior. Rev. Davy Shelton will be officiating. Her final resting place will be at Mountain View Memorial Park in Black Mountain, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to help with funeral expenses.
