Ann Weeks Obituary

Ann B. Weeks, formerly of Savannah GA, died peacefully on January 22, 2021 at Givens Highland Farms Retirement Community in Black Mountain, NC. Ann was born in Petersburg, VA on March 4, 1937 to the late Guy E. Weeks and Thelma Shamhart Weeks. Her family moved to Savannah where her mother was a teacher and her father was the Secretary for the Savannah YMCA. She graduated from Savannah High School and went on to attend Georgia Women's College in Milledgeville, GA. Ann became a teacher and moved back to Savannah to teach PE at Largo-Tibet Elementary School for many years. She was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Savannah where she met many lifelong friends. During the summers, she would travel to Black Mountain, NC to work at the YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly. Blue Ridge had a special place in her heart, as both of her parents and her brothers and sister had also worked there during the summers. Ann retired from teaching and eventually moved to Black Mountain to be close to the mountains and Blue Ridge Assembly that she had always loved.
Ann is survived by her nieces and nephews, Sherri Weeks Toney Brown (Clarence), Kathy Self (Randy), Lisa Coley (Chris), Rick Weeks (Julie), Gary Weeks (Jessica), Tony Weeks (Angie), Jarrell Dickey, Robbie Weeks (Ronette).
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Penland Family Funeral Home is honored to be caring for the Weeks Family.
