Aubrey Rebecca Swanger

Miss. Aubrey Rebecca Swanger, 31, of Swannanoa passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at her home with her family by her side. 

Born May 14, 1991 in Charlotte, NC, she was a daughter of James “Jimmy” Miller Swanger and his spouse, Fran, of Swannanoa, and the late Leanna Christine Davis Swanger. 

She was a graduate of R.S. Central High School in Rutherfordton, NC class of 2012.  She enjoyed the simple things in life such as a long car ride, people watching and trying to make them smile, shopping at Wal-Mart, and watching her favorite purple dinosaur, Barney.

In addition to her father and stepmother who she fondly referred to as “Mama”, she is survived by her siblings, Jacob Ray Swanger of Grayson, GA, and Brittany Nicole Swanger of Charlotte, and step-siblings, Ryan Williams and Samantha Williams both of Swannanoa, NC, Jessica Greene of Oteen, NC, and Zeb Greene and his spouse, Sebrina, of Twentynine Palms, CA; and maternal grandmother, Joey DeRocher, of Rutherfordton, NC.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 21, 2023, in the chapel of Penland Family Funeral Home in Swannanoa with Rev. Kenny Wright and Rev. Travis Winkoop officiating.
