Benny Michael Frady

Benny Michael Frady, 77, of Arden, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Mission Hospital in Asheville.

Born March 20, 1948, in Asheville, NC, he was the son of the late Grover and Dorothy Frady. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. He retired from Volvo and was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church.

Some of his favorite pastimes included watching Carolina Tarheel basketball, fishing, and spending quiet mornings in the hunting blind.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Jamison. Benny is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carolyn Shipman Frady; children, Jeffrey Frady and Michelle Frady Henson and her spouse, Houston, all of Arden, NC; granddaughter, Mercedes Ruiz and her spouse, Matt, of Weaverville, NC and their daughter, Shepherd Ruiz; and special cousins, Ronnie Frady of Fletcher, NC, and Catherine Lunsford of Arden, NC.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 283 Overlook Road, Asheville, NC 28803, with Rev. Mike Goforth and Rev. Troy Rogers officiating. The family will receive friends an hour before the service. The graveside will follow the service, with Rev. Erick Haney to officiate.
