Bernadette Ducar Obituary

            Bernadette "Bernie" Barbara Busch Ducar, age 85, of Black Mountain, NC, passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at the NC State Veterans Home in Black Nountain. She was born on May 12, 1936 in Camden, NJ to the late Francis Busch and Mary Ossowska Busch and attended St. Joseph's High School for her general education and also for nursing. After school, and now a Registered Nurse, Bernadette enlisted in the United States Army where she became a Lieutenant and also met her loving husband, Michael Ducar. She was a Registered Nurse for at least 40 years.

           Bernadette was also a devoted member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church for 32 years and was very active in the Catholic Community. She loved life and always brought happiness into the lives of those around her. Bernadette enjoyed knitting and crocheting, bowling, playing the piano, Bingo, and cooking for her family. She loved her family with all her heart and she was always taking care of others and selflessly giving help and care to anyone in need. In her final days, Bernadette peacefully stated that she "wanted to go to Heaven and sit with Jesus."

            Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her twin brother, Frank Busch, twin brothers, Conrad and Richard Busch, brother, Karl Busch; and sister, Anastasia Busch.

            Those left behind to cherish Bernadette's memory are her beloved husband of 62 years, Michael T. Ducar; her children, Richard Michael Ducar of Atlanta, GA, Timothy Steven Ducar of Asheville, NC, and Mary Anne Elizabeth Ducar of Port St. Lucie, FL; her sister, Mary Ann Rhodes of Audubon, PA; her nieces, Mary Jean Barker of Phoenixville, PA, Patricia Baugher (Christopher) of Bel Air, MD, Ann Rhodes of Audubon, PA, and Jacquelyn Gehman (Tim) of Warrington, PA; and her nephew, James Rhodes (Sharon) of Audubon, PA.

            A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at 10:30 AM at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church at 102 Andrews Place, Swannanoa, NC 28778, conducted by Father Brian Becker. Following the service, Bernadette will be laid to rest at 12:00 Noon, with military honors at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 962 Old US Hwy 70, in Black Mountain.
