Bertha Rebecca “Boots” Fortune Glenn, age 91, a lifelong resident of Black Mountain, NC, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at CarePartners Hospice Center, surrounded by her family.
Boots was born in Buncombe County, NC, on July 16, 1934, to the late Berlin Young Fortune and Sudie Ledbetter Fortune. She attended Mars Hill College for two years and went on to work as an office manager for McMurry Chevrolet. She later owned and operated Black Mountain Floral. Boots was a faithful and devoted member of First Baptist Church of Black Mountain.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Leigh Lunsford.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 73 years, Robert Edward Glenn; her son, David Glenn, and wife Krista of Black Mountain; her granddaughter, Randa Glenn and her partner Frank, also of Black Mountain; and her great-grandchildren, Hunter Rathbone and Skylar Wright.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Black Mountain, 103 Montreat Road, Black Mountain, NC 28711.
