Betty Lou (Brown) Buckner

            Betty Lou Brown Buckner, age 92, of Fairview, NC, passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at Mission Hospital in Asheville. She was born on September 9, 1928 to the late Hubert Romanza Brown and Carolyn Elizabeth Black. Betty was a longtime member of Reed Memorial Baptist Church. She was a master at crocheting, loved the Spring time and growing flowers. Along with her parents, Betty was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Arnold R. Buckner. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Sharon Canter (David) of Fairview, NC, Lynne Bolick (Bryan) of Asheville, NC and Anita Townsend (Mike) of Lexington, NC; her brother, Sam Brown (Elaine) of Taylors, SC; her sisters, Janice Penland of Swannanoa, NC and Joyce Moore of Clarksville, TN; her grandsons, Tim Canter (Allison) of New Hill, NC and Jeremy Canter (Joni) of Spartanburg, SC; her granddaughters, Ashley Wilson (Jarrett) of Crane, MO and Lindsey Edwards of Charlotte, NC; and seven great grandchildren.

            A memorial service will be held by the family at a later date. A private burial will be held at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC.
