Betty Jo (Springs) Watson
April 20, 1934 ~ February 7, 2024 (age 89) 89 Years Old
Betty Jo Springs Watson, age 89, of Black Mountain, fell asleep peacefully in death on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Mountain Ridge Health and Rehabilitation in Black Mountain, NC.
Betty was born on April 20, 1934, in Guadalupe County, Texas, to the late John Springs and Lena Mae McBride Springs. She grew up and lived in Texas most of her life and she moved to Black Mountain to be closer to her daughter in 1995.
She was a secretary for Western Union and the Texas State Highway Department. Betty was a faithful servant and attended Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Swannanoa, NC.
Betty loved growing a beautiful garden full of flowers and she loved animals of all kinds. She was a sweet and kind person who loved being around people. She was fun loving and enjoyed teasing folks, too. Betty loved her family and friends and was deeply devoted to them.
Most of all, she was very engaged in the ministry and loved helping people learn about the Bible. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Willie “Melton” Watson.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Janice Fleming and her husband, Steve, of Black Mountain, NC; three sisters, Bobbie Jean Seay of Seguin, TX, Shirley Ann Weaver and her husband Dean of San Antonio, TX, and Johnnie Mae Behal and her husband, David, of New Braunfels, TX; and two brothers, Danny Springs and his wife Gail of Leesville, TX and Jerry Springs, of Seguin, TX.
The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to all of the staff at Mountain Ridge Health and Rehabilitation for the loving care they gave Betty while she was there.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 220 New Salem Rd., Swannanoa, NC 28778.
