Billy Gene Hagan, age 74, of Asheville, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Elderberry Health Care Center in Marshall. He was born on August 18, 1945 in Buncombe County to the late William C. and Thelma Brown Hagan. Billy was a North Carolina National Guard Veteran, worked as the owner of operator of an auctioneer house called Crazy Bill's in West Asheville, wrote a book called, "Sex, Lies, and Bloomer Dust", and many other jobs. He also had a newspaper and printing business which published a local veterans paper as well as a western film journal. Billy organized and put on an annual western film festival during the late 80's and into the 90's and also promoted the Great American Wrestling Federation which featured many former, and some future WWE stars. He is survived by his sons, Billy Hagan of Marion, Ricky Sharp of Woodfin, and Mark Neale (Rocio) of Concord, CA; his daughter, Judy Babbitt (Paul) of Morganton; and his brother, Bud Hagan of Marion.
A memorial service will be held at Mt. Sheba Baptist Church in Weaverville on Saturday, March 14, 2020, at 3:00 PM and Rev. Bobby Hagan will be officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Penland Family Funeral Home is honored to be caring for the Hagan Family.
