Bonita Sue Shipley

Bonita Sue Shipley, 75, of Marion, NC, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. Born July 16, 1949 in Cass County, Michigan, she was a daughter of the late Homer and Virginia Cousins.

She attended Maple Valley High School in Vermont Ville, MI, and was co-owner and operator of Shipley Wreathes on Merrimon Avenue in Asheville. She was very family oriented and enjoyed children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Bruce Hicks. Surviving are her spouse, Jerry Mitchell Shipley; daughters, Melissa Howard and her spouse, Noel “Red Man” Tootle, of Joanna, SC, and Nicki Shipley McRae and her spouse, Antione McRae, of Panama City Beach, FL; siblings, Donald Ray Cousins of Indiana City, IN, J.D. Cousins and Vicki Landon both of Kalamazoo, MI; grandchildren, Cory Garrison, Devonna Garrison-Brown, Bryan Moore, Stanphany Fields, Jerry Moore, and Dylan Moore; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A service will be held at a later date.
