Charlene Taylor McCulloch, 58, of Fletcher, NC passed away Sunday, January 18, 2026 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC.
Born July 20, 1967 in Columbia, SC, she was a daughter of the late James David Taylor Sr and Marjorie Taylor of Fletcher, NC. She was a graduate of A.C. Reynolds High School in Asheville, NC.
Working in her flower garden pruning her white roses and tending to her day lilies was one of her favorite hobbies. Charlene was devout in her Christian faith and loved to inspire laughter from others. Next to her Lord, her family was her highest prior as she was the caretaker of each of their needs.
She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Tony McPherson; children, Taylor James McCulloch and his spouse, Makala Wallace, of Fletcher, NC, Ashley Brown and her spouse, Eric, of Asheville, NC, Dakota McPherson and his spouse, Haley, of Sylva, NC, and Montana White and her spouse, Shawn, of Brevard, NC; siblings, James David Taylor Jr. and his spouse, Rena, of Fletcher, NC, and Tina Massey and her spouse, Sam, of Holden Beach, NC; and grandchildren, Jaxton Morse, Micah Brown, River Brown, Tucker White, and Taylor White.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Penland Family Funeral Home, 125 South Ave., Swannanoa, NC 28778, on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 1 PM with Rev. Wadell officiating.
