Charles Bruce Gordon

Charles “Bruce” Gordon, age 61, of Fletcher, NC passed away peacefully  on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Bruce was born on December 20, 1960, in Buncombe County to the late Joseph Oren Gordon and Evelyn Marie Crook Gordon. He was the assistant manager of “Little Pigs” restaurant in Asheville and a member of Crossroads Church.

Bruce was a goofy and fun-loving person who never met a stranger. He was a hard worker, and a very giving and generous man. Bruce loved his family and friends, and his church family. He was also a big sports fan. He enjoyed going bowling, watching the Atlanta Braves play baseball, and UNC Basketball. He was  great at fixing anything electronic and enjoyed fixing things for his friends. Most of all he loved his family. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 27 years, Delores “Peppy” Gordon; four daughters, Kristy Gordon of Fletcher, Taylor Brodie of Rutherfordton, and Liz and Lauren Brewer of Cary, NC; brother and sister in law, Ray and Cathe Burleson of Fletcher; two sister in laws, Vicky and Penny Redmond, both of Leicester; mother in law, Betty Redmond of Leicester; his beloved dog, Koda and sweet cats, Cubbie and Whiskey; lifelong best friend, Dr. Larry Rosenberg; and a host of loving and supportive cousins.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, from 6-8PM at Penland Family Funeral Home, 125 South Avenue, Swannanoa, NC 28778

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Emma’s Grove Baptist Church, 417 Emma’s Grove Rd., Fletcher, NC 28732. with Pastors J. Michael Brown, Wade Zachary, and Glynn Bachelor officiating.

Burial will follow the service at Woodlawn Cemetery in Asheville.

The family would like to say a special “Thank You” to the staff and nurses at Care Partners Hospice for the love and care that was shown to Bruce.
