Charles Richard Worley

Charles Richard Worley, age 87, of Leicester, NC, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center in Asheville, NC.

Charles was born on June 27, 1935 in Buncombe County to the late Richard Worley and Ethel Ward Worley.

He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force. Charles also worked at the Gerber Company and was a Baptist Minister. He loved to work on his farm and he enjoyed growing a garden.

Charles loved the Lord with all of his heart. He loved to see folks get saved, and he loved helping people learn about God and understand the Scriptures in the Bible. He also loved his family deeply and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his son, Charles Robert Worley; two brothers, Cecil and Larry Worley; and a sister, Grace Rogers.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 68 years, Gail Robinson Worley, of the home; a son, Darrell Worley and wife Angie, of Salisbury, NC; three sisters, Kathy, Sandra and Geneva; two grandsons, Caleb (Joy) Worley of Las Cruces, NM and Nehemiah (Anna) Worley of Salisbury, NC; two special nephews, Dwayne (Connie) Worley and Jeff Worley, both of Thomasville, NC; and a special neighbor and friend, Gary (JoAnne) Teague of Leicester, NC.

A Celebration of Charles’s Life will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Paynes Chapel Methodist Church, 456 Earlys Mountain Rd. Leicester, NC 28748 with Pastor Darrell Worley officiating.

The family will receive friends a half an hour before the service begins in the church from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM.

Burial will take place at a later time in the church cemetery.
