Coy Michael Johnson

Coy Michael Johnson, 65, of Asheville, NC passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Mission Hospital in Asheville.

Coy was born on June 4, 1958, in Asheville, he was the son of the late Coy Glenn Johnson and Betty June Johnson. In 1976, he graduated from A.C. Reynolds High School and enlisted and proudly served in the U.S. Army shortly after.

Of his many enjoyments and talents in life, he had a natural “Green Thumb” in gardening, was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed casting a line for just about any fish to bite, and loved a good cookout with family and friends.

Surviving are his son, Jeff Johnson of Asheville, NC; sister, Terry J. James and her spouse, Daniel, of Asheville, NC; granddaughter, Lillian Mae Johnson of Birmingham, AL; and many nieces and nephews.

 A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 8, 2024, in the Penland Family Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Caleb Moss officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
