Obituary

David R. (Papaw) Bartlett, age 82, of Asheville, NC, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2023, at his residence in Asheville, NC.

David was born on May 31, 1941 in Buncombe County, NC to the late David Howard Bartlett and Bertha Louise Dodson Bartlett.  He worked for the Buncombe County Sherriff’s Department and was retired.  He was a long standing member at Berea Baptist Church.  He enjoyed yard sailing and collectibles.  One of David's most famous sayings  is “If I don’t have it or I can’t get it; you don’t need it.” 

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patsy Bartlett.  He is also preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Stewart.

David is survived by his daughter, Patsy Dianne Bartlett, of Tennessee; his sons, Larry E. Bartlett (Linda), of Bahama, NC, and Garry D. Bartlett (Vikki), of Asheville, NC.  He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on August 5, 2023 at Swannanoa Fire Department,  Bee Tree Sub Station at 510 Bee Tree Rd., Swannanoa, NC 28778.
