David Lee Salyers, age 83, of Hendersonville, NC, entered his heavenly home on Friday, March 14, 2025, at his home with his family surrounding him.
David was born in Dickenson County, VA, on May 23, 1941, to the late Charles Everson Salyers and Rosa Beatrice Hicks Salyers. He joined the US Army and earned his degree in broadcasting. After the military, he attended college at Southland Bible Institute, where he earned his Business Administration degree. David loved being a broadcaster and Uncle Sam entertainer.
David's passion was connecting with other people. Volunteering and entertaining as Uncle Sam brought him much joy as he shared happiness, love for all, and great pride and appreciation for our country, the USA. He also enjoyed creating new memories with his grandkids.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife Johnsie Mae Haynes Salyers; daughters Sarah Clayton of Roxboro, NC and Rebekah and husband Kevin Vines of Hendersonville; son Andy and wife Amanda Salyers of Bolivia, NC; granddaughters Chelsea Clayton of Leasburg, NC , Stormi Drumwight of Rougemont, NC and Mariana Clayton of Roxboro, NC; grandsons Alex and wife Cristina Fishel of Hot Springs, NC, Tanner and wife Sydney Clayton of Roxboro, NC, Eric Fishel and wife Lori Snyder of Hendersonville and Micah Clayton of Roxboro; great-grandson Jaxson Clayton of Leasburg and Cole Clayton of Providence; He also has extended family of nieces and nephews in Tennessee, Virginia and South Carolina.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at noon at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, with Reverend David Chambers officiating.
