Delores Ann (Bartley) Hensley

Delores Ann Barltey Hensley, age 81, of Marion, NC, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2022 at Mountain Ridge Health and Rehabilitation in Black Mountain.

Delores was born on September 5, 1940, in Catawba County to the late William S. Bartley and Mildred Duncan Bartley.

She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses Marion Congregation and was retired from Triangle South Enterprises.

Delores was a real spitfire. She had a sweet nature and a great sense of humor. Her family says she had an alternate ego that was like “Maxine”, the cartoon character. Delores was known for her shenanigans and funny stories who she always blamed on “Maxine”. She was a wonderful cook and made her food with love. Her family’s favorite was her “Country Casserole” and they always fought over who would get the last of her “cat-head” biscuits. Delores loved her family and they loved her. She will always be remembered with love and laughter and some funny story to tell.

In addition to her parents, Delores was preceded in death by her husband, Eddy Hensley; and her son, Everett Lail.

Those left behind to cherish her memory, are her three sons, Mike (Teresa) Lail of Marion, Wade (Debbie) Lail of Mills River, and Eddy (Anita) Hensley, Jr., of Seattle, WA; a daughter, Lisa Sanders of Valdese; seven granddaughters, Christa (Nick) Stafford of Old Fort, Kayla (Steven) Loftis of Morganton, Stephanie (CJ) Ray of Marion, Dimond Lail and fiance’ Jackson Ellis of Marion, and Sophia Willis of Valdese, and Laura and Sara Hensley both of Seattle; one grandson, Corey Willis of Valdese; and six great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Penland Family Funeral Home conducted by Elder Joe Frobose. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Burial will take place at a later date.
