Diane Horton Vaughan, age 74, of Black Mountain, NC, passed away on Friday, November 4, 2022, at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC.
Diane was born on December 1, 1947, in Hastings, Nebraska, to the late Lloyd Gordon Horton and Patricia Allen Caldwell Horton.
She was a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant and a Special Education teacher. She was also an advocate at the J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center in Morganton, NC. Diane had a love for helping people and a special fondness for animals. She had a pet rabbit named Tucker at her workplace who would follow her everywhere.
She enjoyed crocheting blankets and scarves, fly fishing, and was an athletic swimmer. Diane had a quiet and humble personality. She was a sweet lady who loved her family and friends.
Those left behind to cherish Diane’s memory are her sister, Lynette MacRae of Black Mountain, NC; brother, Scott Horton of Hendersonville, NC; and a close and special friend, Melissa (Douglas Thoma) Meyer of Black Mountain.
No services are planned at this time.
