Dianna Holbert Couch, 67, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, following a 23-year courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Buncombe County, Dianna was the beloved daughter of the late George Wayne Holbert and Carolyn Brown Holbert.

Dianna attended Appalachian State University and graduated with honors, earning her BS degree in Sociology.

She dedicated 30 years of her life to public service, retiring from the Mecklenburg County Department of Social Services in 2018. Dianna was also a proud and active member of the Daughters of the Nile, Latona Temple 154 in Charlotte, NC, and the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 61 in Hendersonville, NC.

Dianna is survived by her devoted husband, John Couch; her step-son, Kevin Couch, and his wife Monica; and her cherished grandchildren, Clarabella and Virgil. She is also survived by her loving sister, Debbie Ensley, and her husband, Ed.

A memorial service to celebrate Dianna’s life will be held at Beverly Hills Baptist Church, 777 Tunnel Road, Asheville, N.C., on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at 3 PM, with Rev. Buddy Corbin and Rev. Scott Lynch officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Beverly Hills Baptist Church, with the designation of either the Food Pantry or the School Supplies Fund.
